Pairs Head of the river 2026

After a foggy morning and a delayed race start, seven members raced down on the Tideway yesterday in the Pairs Head of the River.

The only ‘short’ Tideway head, raced from the University post at Chiswick to the end of the wall at Harrods.

Kate Cawley and Jen Titterington raced in the WMasB 2x. Setting off first in the whole event, they raced well and came through to take second in the category, missing out to a crew from Cantabrigian rowing club.

Harry Woodman and Toby Bell were next off for Newark, racing the J18 2x. A highly competitive event, Newark placed 14th out of 31.

Lucy Blair and Ciaran Quinn raced in the mixed doubles event. Another highly competitive category this year with all of the podium spot occupied by Internationals and Henley winners, the Newark crew came in a very commendable 7th position.

After a last minute call up and substitution, Ash Cowley also raced in the mixed doubles event in a composite crew with Izzy Maxwell (City of Cambridge RC/London RC). They raced as a ‘Time only’ crew due to the event rules on substitution, so weren’t eligible for a place, but with the time they recorded would have finished just off the podium in 4th, in the category.

Well done everyone that raced, supported and made the day possible. Always great to see the club represented on the Tideway.
