We had a massive 35 members travelled up to Brigg to race the 2.8km Ancholme Head of the River. With a big blend of experienced members and first time racers, Newark put out 29 crews across the day and came with 8 wins.
Our senior men’s quad of Cairan Quinn, Ed Bradley, Joss Cope and Ashley Cowley won the overall headship (fastest crew of the day) by a clear 17 second margin over Doncaster.
Harry Woodman retained his title of the fastest single sculler by 10 seconds over his next competitor, winning the J18 1x in the process.
The biggest congratulations of the day goes to all of our members that raced for the first time. It’s great to see you all embracing racing for the club and getting stuck in. A special shout out to juniors Nicole and Sophia Wesley on their debut wins on their first race for the club. And a first win for Jacob Nichol- Smith.
A great day out and still the fastest club to load the trailers at the end of the day! Well done everyone and thanks to all the support on the bank. It’s fantastic to hear plenty of shouts for Newark down the course.
