Taking place on Saturday 4 December, Newark Rowing Club’s Jim Gleed competed in the British Rowing Indoor Championships in the Year 10 boy’s 5 minute ergo, taking the winning distance.
Competing against 23 other athletes from across the country, Jim dominated the race from the very start, and managed to stay consistent while other athletes fell behind. Jim covered a total of 1525m in 5 minutes, 50m ahead of second place.
Head Coach, Ashley Cowley, comments, “Jim has shown excellent form on the indoor rower and this result is a testament to his hard work in training.”
British Rowing Indoor Championships traditionally takes place at the Lee Valley velodrome in London, however for the last two years, it has taken place remotely due to Covid. This year, over 800 athletes from 32 different countries entered the event.
